The Meditators Reggae Band was founded in 1990, by Sandile aka Shante Bekwa and currently has 6 full time members. The band is roots based and all the members are currently based in Durban.

Their highlight performance was being the curtain-raiser for the UB40 tour in 2018 in Durban and Pretoria to Sold Out shows. In 2019 the band was nominated for the SAMA Best Reggae Album award for their release ‘Explosion’. The group is currently recording their 6th Album.

The band has hit the ground running out of lockdown, with regular performances at The Joint, and Ushaka Marine World, both venues on Durban’s exquisite promenade. The Meditators have been resident at Ushaka Marine World since 2004.
