His ability on the tuba resonated within the esteemed halls of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, where his performances added depth and richness to their repertoire. Beyond the classical realm, David’s talent found expression in the vibrant energy of stage productions, including acclaimed shows like “Chicago” and William Kentridge’s avant-garde spectacle, “Dancing With Dada.”
Venturing beyond traditional orchestral settings, David established his own musical group with the Acoustic Moodz band, enchanting audiences with the soulful melodies of classical guitar. Their performance at the Unisa International String Competition’s opening concert in 2010 marked a pinnacle moment, further underscored by an invitation from the Spanish embassy to collaborate with Sedajazz, a renowned jazz ensemble from Spain.
David’s shared spirit has led him to collaborate with a diverse mix of artists, spanning from local legends like Blackie Swart to internationally acclaimed musicians like Grammy-winning flautist, Wouter Kellerman. His time spent with the acclaimed ensemble Disselblom, along with their successes at the Geraas Best Duo or Group award and the Kanna award at the KKNK festival, serves as a testament to his multifaceted talent and artistic brilliance.
Returning to Port Elizabeth, David’s musical journey continued to evolve, as he immersed himself in diverse musical landscapes. From soulful duets with Sama-winning saxophonist Phumlani Mtiti to the infectious rhythms of the funky-reggae ensemble The Brothers, David’s musical odyssey knows no bounds. Embracing the vibrant tapestry of Port Elizabeth’s music scene, he further enriched his repertoire through collaborations with The Lucas Reunion and Twotone Music, seamlessly integrating into their respective styles and contributing his own unique flair to the mix.
Currently, David finds himself entwined in a melodious partnership with Therese Smith, serenading audiences at popular venues and functions across the Eastern Cape.
