Description: Justin Horn, full-time music educator and classical and contemporary trained musician, with many years of experience in teaching and performing, was born in Durban, South Africa.
His musical training started at the age of nine, when he began learning the trumpet. Throughout his school career, Justin excelled in music, attaining awards and recognition for his involvement in various music projects, bands & orchestras. During his time at Grey High School, Justin was exposed to many different musical instruments and genres, during which time he began his studies in classical guitar with The University of Port Elizabeth’s guitar lecturer, Dr Howard Nock.
After he matriculated from The Grey, with Subject Music I (1st instrument – Euphonium) and II (2nd instrument – Classical Guitar), Justin began his studies at The UPE Music Department, where he majored in Classical and Jazz Guitar. He attained a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance and a Diploma in Music Education.
