JON ‘Yawn’ ALLEN – My main influences are Bob Marley, The Police, UB40, The Specials, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones.I love reggae music, and it is my favorite genre.
I have always loved singing and did my first musical when I was in Grade 4. My first recording I made was when I was 12 and happened when a record company came to our school to find a few singers to be involved in the recording of an anti-conscription 7-single. After the recording we were taken to a record shop in Hillbrow where we could choose any two albums. I did not really know much music at that age and ended up taking The Police (Ghost in the Machine) and UB40 (Present Arms). I guess from listening to these two albums continuously, came my love for reggae and ska music.
